Back in February 2020 I was shooting the northern lights with my friend Bryan at the famous Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall. The lights were faint but we did get them. When we were done there we moved down to the beach for another perspective on the Kirkjufell mountain. The lights were at this point super faint. I believe Bryan got them on his digital film (what a marvel of technology!) but I knew my 100iso Polaroid film wouldn’t be able to catch them. But as it was such a beautiful and still night, with the moon illuminating the mountain from behind us I decided to try one night shot anyway. This is a 40 minute exposure, and even though it’s a bit tilted (impossible to see that through the viewfinder of the camera) I m still super happy with the outcome. I didn’t expect the starts to be so clearly visible (as long streaks) on a 100iso film, especially against the moonlit sky with it’s blue hue.
